Food brings us together; one shared plate can produce countless moments and memories. The Roots & Recipes project aims to collect recipes and kitchen stories from first and second generation immigrants in Montreal through our inter-generational video series, Dishing Up the Past. We also lead live educational programming as well as themed dinners and cooking workshops. At these events, we have had the opportunity to share stories, learn traditional recipes and eat and prepare meaningful meals together. For us at Roots & Recipes, food is more than just about sustenance, it’s about culture, identity, history and tradition.
